About Us

Meet the Author: Sarah Whitmore

Hi, I’m Sarah — the voice behind this site and a lifelong lover of the Western United States. Growing up in Oregon, my weekends were spent exploring hidden trails, camping in the Cascades, and sipping coffee in quirky small-town cafés. Over the years, I’ve traveled across Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and Montana, staying in everything from rustic log cabins to modern eco-retreats.

This website is my way of bringing all those experiences together — sharing not only the best cabins and destinations but also the stories, local tips, and insights that make traveling the West so unforgettable.

I’ve always noticed that many travel blogs focus only on the biggest, most popular spots — but in the West, the magic often lies in the little things: a backroad diner serving homemade pie, a quiet trail that only locals know, or a cabin designed with stunning mountain views in mind.

I wanted to create a place where travelers could find genuine recommendations, learn about architecture and design trends in Western cabins, and get practical tips that make each trip feel personal and memorable.

Why I Started This Site

This site is all about authentic Western experiences, blending outdoor adventure with comfort and style.

  • Cabin Stays: Guides to the best rustic and luxury cabins across the West.
  • Outdoor Adventures: Year-round activities from hiking and kayaking to skiing and stargazing.
  • Food & Culture: Local eats, craft breweries, and festivals worth traveling for.

Design & Construction Insights: Articles on cabin architecture, sustainable building, and tips for finding the right general contractor if you’re dreaming of building your own getaway.

What You’ll Find Here

Traveling isn’t just about checking off destinations — it’s about connection. Connection to the land, the community, and even the way spaces are built. That’s why I include notes on sustainability, local businesses, and design throughout this site. By traveling mindfully and supporting local communities, we help preserve the places we love for future generations.

My Philosophy

Whether you’re planning your first Western road trip, booking a cozy cabin getaway, or simply daydreaming about mountain mornings with a cup of coffee, I’m glad you’re here.

Browse through the blog, get inspired, and let’s explore the West together — one trail, one cabin, and one hidden gem at a time.
